Swadlincote's Meals on Wheels not under axe threat despite cut figure

Gill Farrington, chairman of South Derbyshire Forum which runs the meals on wheels service in Swadlincote has had concerns from elderly people following the release of national statistics.

The figures released by Malnutrition Task Force reveal 46,000 people across the UK have seen their meals on wheels service axed in the last three years.

The task force also added that spending on meals on wheels for people aged 65 and over has fallen 47 per cent, from £42.1 million in 2010-11 to £22.3 million in 2013-14.
