Meals on Wheels best practices

The NACC has been working in partnership with the charities ‘Sustain’ and ‘Sustainable Food Cities’. These partnerships help us identify case studies of Local Authorities who are using innovative models to provide meals on wheels services in their communities.

The four case studies are just some of the great examples of 21st century services, that enable older and vulnerable people in our communities to continue receiving the hot meals they need. This allows them to stay at home, live independently for longer and reduce the burden on the health system.

The four case studies (of many) identified include:

  • Hertfordshire Independent Living Services, in England 
  • CATERed in Plymouth, England
  • Tayside Contracts, Scotland
  • Gwent Blaenau, Wales
