NACC team to run Marathon Relay for St Luke’s Hospice

A team of energetic members and supporters of the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) is running the NACC Marathon Relay on Wednesday 3 April 2019 to raise money for the association’s chosen charity, St Luke’s Hospice Harrow & Brent.

The event, which takes place at Harrow School Sports Centre, also supports Neel Radia, the NACC’s national chair, and his commitment to running the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 28 April to raise vital funds for the hospice.

Each member of the NACC Marathon Relay team will complete one mile of the 26.2 miles that make up a marathon, in whatever way this wish; from walking and running to crawling, skipping or jumping!

Well-known names signed up to the team include Matthew White from TUCO; Philip Shelley from Taunton & Somerset NHS Trust; Judith Scurr and Corina Davison from Hadrian Healthcare; Gary Farrell from Creed Foodservice; and Andy Jones from PS100.
Sophie Murray, Deputy National Chair of the NACC, said: “We’re really looking forward to the NACC Marathon Relay and bringing members together to raise as much money as possible for St Luke’s Hospice. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to making the event happen by giving their time or by donating their services and facilities. It’s going to be a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing how some of the team chose to complete their mile!

“As well as raising money, the charity event is our way of showing Neel Radia our support of his fantastic commitment to running the Virgin London Marathon for St Luke’s Hospice. He’s training incredibly hard to complete the full 26.2 miles and raise vital funds for the charity that means so much to him.”

Following the Marathon Relay the team will visit St Luke’s Hospice to see first-hand its wonderful work.

St Luke’s Hospice provides exceptional end-of-life care and comfort to patients and their families at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives, either at the In Patient Unit at the hospice or in their own homes. The services the hospice offers give those at the end of their lives the dignity and support they need to die in a place of their choice.

With all its services offered free of charge, St Luke’s relies on the generosity of the community for over 75% of its funding, with at least £3.5 million needed to be raised each year.

The NACC and St Luke’s Hospice would be very grateful for any support industry colleagues can give to help raise as much money as possible. To sponsor the NACC Marathon Relay and Neel Radia’s Virgin London Marathon please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/neel-radia4londonmarathon2019
