Sarah Wren OBE - CATEY Public Sector Caterer 2025
Published: 9th July 2025
On behalf of the National Association of Care Catering (NACC), I would like to congratulate, one of our longstanding members and supporters on being awarded last night's prestigious Public Sector Caterer of the Year, at the prestigious CATEY Awards.
Sarah Wren OBE has served as Chief Executive of Health & Independent Living Support (HILS) since 2010, steering the organisation from financial instability to national recognition. Originally operating as Hertfordshire Community Meals, HILS under Sarah’s leadership has evolved into a thriving social enterprise offering a broad range of services—from meals on wheels and nutrition support to exercise programme's and wellbeing visits—supporting older and disabled people to live independently.
Driven by compassion and a deep commitment to social value, Sarah has not only expanded HILS’ impact across Hertfordshire but also extended its vital services into West Sussex and Hampshire, preserving essential support where it was at risk. A passionate advocate for older and disabled people, Sarah has chaired Healthwatch Hertfordshire, contributed to national initiatives like NACC Meals on Wheels Campaign, and held non-executive roles with the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust.
In recognition of her leadership and dedication, Sarah was awarded an MBE in 2012 and an OBE in 2022.
A huge congratulations to Sarah Wren, CATEY Public Sector Caterer 2025.
Neel Radia
NACC Chair
